It seems hard to believe, but in the 90s, Los del Rio lit up the charts with this elderly-relatives-at-a-wedding dance hit. The Macarena’s Spanish lyrics loosely translated to, “publically masturbate to a Latin beat in the guise of doing vaguely ridiculous dance moves,” or at least that’s what I told the club bouncer repeatedly upon my multiple removals in 1993.
